Win a pair of tickets to see Elephant Revival • One Winner
One winner will receive a pair of tickets to see Elephant Revival at The Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO on November 18th, 2011. Elephant Revival, an indie acoustic quintet from Nederland Colorado, reveals hidden treasures deep within a vast repertoire of original material. In one show, the quintet can be seen delving into original folk pieces in the realm of traditional ballads, Scottish/Celtic fiddle tunes, psychedelic old-time, indie rock, rustic Americana, world beat, 40s/50s jazz and an occasional hip-hop feel, amongst other styles. Break in the Clouds is the bands second studio album and will be released on Ruff Shod/Nettwerk Records this June. The new album expands upon the groups multigenre musical approach, threading together dynamic instrumentation and a diverse rhythmic sound while exploring the depths of all five of the groups gifted songwriters. In response to the release, Boulder Weekly entertainment writer Dave Kirby enthused, The album brims with poised folk ballads, modern Celtic fiddle dirges, hints of blues and Appalachiacoaxing the spirit but slyly avoiding climbing fully into each forms body. Moreover, Chicago Sun Times heralds, The melodic, finely tuned songs are a tribute to the collaborative songwriting talents of each band member. The quintet consists of Bonnie Paine (vocals, washboard, djembe, musical saw), Sage Cook (electric banjo/guitar, acoustic guitar, mandolin, viola, vocals), Dango Rose (double-bass, mandolin, banjo, vocals), Daniel Rodriguez (acoustic guitar, electric banjo/guitar vocals) and Bridget Law (fiddle and vocals).Individually and collectively the band members have performed with some of the most prolific performers of our time including Little Feat, Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Avett Brothers, Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon, Yonder Mountain String Band, Bela Fleck, John Paul Jones, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic and State Radio, among many others.Elaborating on Elephant Revivals live shows, independent film director Mike Eberle explains, When I hear Elephant Revival I am struck by my inability to define it. I am forced to confront the music as it is, connecting to it with a virgin spirit of mind. Consequently it feels like I am experiencing music and all its joys for the very first time. Elephant Revival carries a fresh sense of creativity and inspiration that is felt by people of every generation. Musically and collaboratively the quintet is inspired to spread a message of sustainability while nurturing an awareness of positive change through the pure light intention of their music.
